Gremmie II with kicktails!

Gremmie just released three new versions of their pocket sized skateboards! Version II of the Dart, Pistola, and Challenger now feature concave and a kicktail. A bit of a departure from the original plank style but surely the board feel on these is closer to anything the under 50 crowd grew up skating.

The “Big Daddy” Ed Roth inspired graphics are now on the bottom of the deck with more grip tape for skaters that wear shoes when ripping. Hanging-ten just isn’t the same with shoes and socks kids.

Matching 61mm 78a clear wheels compliment each deck in their corresponding colors, set on some 5.25 Ruckus trucks. The included risers and wheel-wells should keep some jarring wheel bite at bay. Just be thankful the included wheels aren’t clay junior.

The Bandits “boot inspired” look is pretty subtle, but totally skate functional. The solid one piece toe cap is great for a smooth feel. The collars and side panel are made of ballistic nylon with a small strip of synthetic paneling on the middle of the shoe below the laces. The collars folded look adds some padding protection, while the tongue is relatively thin which is nice in a high-top. Not that you will use it but the hook-eyelets on the top collar are a nice quick lacing option.

Skateboarding Dog Art Prints

Middlebury, VT must have taken Portland’s motto, “put a bird on it” and gone dog. Perfectly alright because Ryan Fowler of Native Vermont Studio is putting dogs on skateboards! These giclee prints come on archival matte paper or on stretched canvas. Despite the proclamation the prints are not made in Chcago. Just the imaginary dog-breed skateboard company?

Don’t see your favorite genetic freak breed on their page? They’ll do a customer dog if you email them. I wonder if they can do Danish Fink Hounds and Reject Runt Puggles?

Anti-Hero Tent City

The last scene from the infamous Anti-Hero Tent City is beyond telling. It would after all be the trip that left John Cardiel nearly paralyzed for a few years. Despite or perhaps because of the sheer risk though, the film is highly introspective. Ending in what session of pure fun riding a massive full pipe like a wave. Its almost primordial.

Keep Skateistan Rolling

The Keep Skateistan Rolling fundraiser kicked off this week to raise a very modest goal of $25,000. The work of Skateistan should be familiar to any regular readers of this blog, but if this is your first time reading about it, the organization and its goals are pretty simple; give kids a chance to have fun and be challenged through a skateboard.  The logistics to make this happen for kids from two war torn countries like, Afghanistan and Cambodia, make it less simple but so much more rewarding.

The Keep Skateistan Rolling page will be updated everyday this week to share some cool videos about the work they’re doing. Don’t forget to use the share buttons! Its a great way to spread the word to friends and family about an organization that is making some real measurable change in kids lives. Everyone who sees the work Skateistan is doing is always amazed!

This low profile silhouette has some nice skate functionality with the toe stitching raised slightly higher then usual in a high abrasion areas.

Osiris Relic Vegan Skateboard shoesOsiris Relic has a classic skateboard shoe look and comes in another all vegan colorway for the Holiday 12 season. The combination of black synthetic nubuck and canvas make this both a durable and breathing shoe. A low key look for the company that usually blows up the spot with red soles and purple logos.  Osiris is calling the padded tongue and collar, “traditional.” Read, puffy and padded. All this on a cupsole. Suppose there is a rhyme and reason to the shoes name, right?
