Cuba Skate Documentary: Por los Ojos de un Patinador Cubano (Through the Eyes of a Cuban Skater) is a Kickstarter project that just started and is well on its way to its funding goal. The film isn’t the first to look at the isolated skateboard scene in Cuba. In 2007, “Cuban Skateboard Crisis,” interviewed skaters in Havana at their local park and even featured a skate contest. Even the best skaters on the island have some dismal looking boards. The lack of availability leads to repair often involves glueing and screwing two boards back together.
“Por los Ojos de un Patinador Cubano”, started filming in 2010 and gives us an updated look at whats been going on in the scene in the last six years. Exciting stuff and it really makes you think twice before you focus that next deck.
